Day 8 of the Jam Unacceptable campaign has arrived, and a new week means a new image.
All spaces are political spaces, but few in this city are more so than the 900 block and surrounding area of Pandora.
“In 2007, the City of Victoria paid a private consultant to bring property and business owners on the 900-block together to set conditions on the expansion of Our Place. One result of this process was the city’s commitment to ‘beautify’ the block. To make the Green beautiful in the eyes of owners, it eventually amended the Streets and Traffic Bylaw to clear out tenters camping in front of Our Place and then spent $510,000 paving a wide swathe of the Green.”
